Itinerary
Friday: Clock Out, Check In & Unwind
1:00pm-2:00pm: Afternoon arrival
2:30pm-3:30pm: Mindful Yoga Walk. We begin the weekend by reconnecting with our bodies and quieten our over active minds. The repetitive rhythm of linking our breathing with our stride, brings us to a state of calm. By focusing on being present in the moment, we remove stressful thought. Negativity softly fades away, while we reap the benefits of gentle exercise, sunlight and fresh air.
4:00pm-5:00pm: Tea, coffee and cake
5:00pm-6:00pm: Yoga. (inside or outside depending on the weather). Claire teaches a variety of styles all of them accessible to all levels, heart-focussed and breath-centred. You do not need any experience of yoga to take part. Just bring yourself and wear comfy clothes. In the evening, before dinner, we will wind down with a mostly floor based deep stretch and longer held poses, more in the Yin style of yoga, to ease away the tension of the day, finished off with a long relaxation for a restful, relaxed evening.
7:30pm-10:00pm: Dinner (not included)
Saturday: The Achievement Day.
7:30am-8:30am: Yoga. The morning classes will be gentle, slow flow practices to wake up and stretch in preparation for our walks and to start the day with some nice grounding movement, followed by breakfast before we set off.
8:30am-9:15am: Breakfast
10:00am-4:00pm: Helvellyn or Derwentwater. Get your mind and body stimulated with either England’s most exciting walk or a circuit of one of it's most beautiful Lakes. Either way you will be left feeling on top of the world and ready to tackle anything.
Walkers have the option of either 1.) taking in a full 10mile lap around the beautiful lake of Derwentwater from the bustling little town of Keswick or 2.) tackling the dramatic narrow ridge ascent of Helvellyn via Striding Edge from Glenridding.
The Derwentwater Walk is a scenic 10 mile waymarked walk around Derwentwater. On flat and easy paths, the walk passes through ancient woodlands and along the shores of the lake. The scenery is stunning, with perfect picnic stops, cafes and restaurants along the way.
Voted Britain’s favourite walk in 2017, you could alternatively choose to tackle the dramatic narrow ridge of Striding Edge, a Grade 1 scramble all the way to Helvellyn’s wide summit plateau. After enjoying one of the best views across the entire Lake District and over the stunning Ullswater valley, we descend via Swirral Edge. This steep rocky descent takes in the bonus Wainwright of Catstye Cam, before heading back down to Glenridding.
