The Leaders:

Friends of Get Outdoors walks are led by volunteer leaders, who are familiar with the routes and will help bring the group together, but do not have any specific qualifications or insurance. Hence participants are entirely responsible for their own safety and take part at their own risk.

Anyone who would like to volunteer to lead a walk in an area they are familiar with would be most welcome. Alternatively if anyone would like ideas for routes, please get in touch, as we have loads of ideas to share. We would love for any friends of Get Outdoors to offer to lead a walk and help support a good cause, while showing off their favuorite areas of the countryside.

Get Outdoors involvement in these walk is limited to spreading the word that they are taking place for the purpose of supporting the fundraising effort of those involved.

Currently these walks are mainly happening in Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Warwickshire. We would love to add more counties to the list!

Your Contribution:

To take part is FREE of charge, but we ask participants to kindly make a donation to our current nominated charity of a minimum £5:

Friends of Get Outdoors are fundraising for SeeSaw

"SeeSaw provides a grief support service for children, young people and their families anywhere in Oxfordshire, whether the death is sudden or expected, due to illness or accident, or for some other reason."

To Sign Up:

The details of each walk will be posted in the "Friends of Get Outdoors Walking Group", along with a poll for those wishing to attend. Simply click this link from your phone to join the group and see what walks are coming up. Tick the poll for a walk you would like to attend:

Other Important Information:

Please remember waterproofs, walking boots/shoes and a packed lunch and water.

Dogs are welcome, but are entirely the owner's responsibility and must have a lead and be under close control at all times.

If encountering livestock do not walk too close or get between a cow and calf. If threatened, let go of your dog so it can escape and reduce the risk to yourself.

Please keep to public rights of way and respect landowner’s property.
There are often stiles to negotiate on this type of walk.

Countryside walking can often include hills and uneven terrain.

The group ethos is to support everyone to achieve their maximum potential in terms of completing the route. As such, the group will endeavour to walk at a pace all participants are comfortable with.
We apologise if this causes any frustration to faster walkers.

Please consult your doctor if you are worried about your fitness to take part.
